add a commentV2 from Ubisoft for Amstrad CPC - October 19, 2008
For once, a GTW to report about which has plenty of information on it! … Olivier Maille and Jean-Bernard Edmond were the developers behind this "point ‘n’ click" style adventure set in WWII.
Originally the developers sent a prototype to Ubi Soft which was accepted for publishing back in 1988, with just a few tweaks and bits of advice for them to complete the game. Jocelyn Valais illustrated the cover months in advance as it was common practice at the time.
The authors finished the game and
sent the final version but the game was sadly never released. A shame you may say, but we discovered that the good news was that in early 2008, Gametronik released the game to the world.
If you haven’t seen it or noticed it already, then go check it out! (Well, if you can understand French I guess!)

You may have noticed the large number of posts from a Fabrizio Bartoloni - well, Fabrizio of late has been helping to keep GTW fresh with some stearling research and work (Especially with people’s work loads going a bit potty recently!) and of course we need all the help we can get to keep track of all the various lost games out there.
So a big welcome to Fabrizio to the GTW team, and long may he keep digging out those various resources and news items!

2 commentsJohn Romero’s GTW Secrets - October 14, 2008
Given the huge success of Wolfenstein 3D, Doom I/II and Quake - regretfully some of John Romero’s early AppleII/C64 titles were unreleased with 1983 being his annus horribilis when only 2 out of 15 games planned that year survived and were published. Check out John’s wiki for more details:
http://rome.ro/wiki/index.php/John_Romero’s_Games
More close to home, John also worked on a C64 conversion of 2400AD, and recently got in touch with us to confirm that infact he had worked on an early version in 1988 which was cancelled and later restarted by another development team (Ocean Software’s Allan Short)… An interesting story which can be checked out here - http://gtw64.retro-net.de/Pages/0/Review_2400AD.php … and one where the game we hope will be found soon!

6 commentsSEGA 32X: more lost than released - October 11, 2008
I doubt users will rejoyce, but with the failed SEGA 32X the amount of titles that didn’t see the light of day greatly outnumbered those who saw actual release.
The list is VERY long and includes titles such as:
- Alien Trilogy (Image above)
- Batman Forever
- Dracula X
- Dragon’s Lair 2 (CD)
I wonder just how many of these titles will actually ever get found?… maybe you know more about them?
