Sub Hunter game released - September 30, 2008
Ok, not quite GTW related but after 4 years of hard work our C64 game Sub Hunter has been finished and released. It is now on sale from Psytronik Software on tape (With disk version coming soon). This is by GTW webmaster ‘Frank Gasking’ on the pixels and design, and C64 developer ‘Richard Bayliss’ on code/sfx and Maniacs of Noise on Music.

The game will only be available exclusively from Psytronik Software for the first month or so, but then there will be an alternative free download for people to play after that. It’s been a bit of a slog in our free time to get it sorted, but we’re glad its done and now don’t want to see the game for quite some time if we can help it!

For now, if you would like to have a go of the game, grab yourself a suitable C64 emulator and grab the 4 level demo. Enjoy!

add a commentTwo incredible Amstrad CPC titles - September 29, 2008
"Primal Fight: Prehistorik 3" and "Ping Pong"
If you ever see something technically impossible on a platform, chances are that the authors originated from the Demo scene.

These two titles are no exception, graphically impressive "Primal Fight" is the third installation in the "Prehistorik" saga from AST System developed as late as 1996, little seemed to survive besides splash screen, a few logos for it and its developer team.
WIP codename "Ping Pong" from 1998 left us with just a beautiful menu screen sadly.
Our attempts to find out more about these titles have gone unanswered so far, but we hope to bring you more soon!

AppleIIGS was the most powerful computer in the Apple II product line. It boasted very colourful games and enhanced sound capabilities, thus managing arcade conversions better than its siblings.
Sadly, some titles were dismissed before publication because of its userbase migrating to big brother Mac. This website here has been around for a while but gives a good overview of some of the lost titles including:

1993 Virgin Games
Code - Gregg Tavaress
Well, if you’ve been following the GTW Youtube channel we have, you probably have seen the clips to this already. You’ve probably even already got the roms (you naughty people!) and played it yourself. It’s about time we said a little something therefore on the game.

add a commentA look at some PC-FX based GTW’s - September 7, 2008
PC-FX was the Japan-only 32 bit successor to PC-Engine (a.k.a. TurboGrafx-16 in the States). Quite likely this is the first time you may have heard of it but this platform, almost unknown in the West, enjoyed wide support from legacy NEC developers. A facts and rumours collection on unpublished titles can be found here, you may be lured in by names like:
